Be Careful What You Wish For is Re-Released

Posted by D. L. Cocchio on March 9, 2011 at 12:17 PM Comments comments (1)

Hi Fans,

Just to let you know, my first book, Be Careful What You Wish For , now has a new cover and has been re-published through Magic Moon Press via Createspace. I'm really excited! Working with this new publisher has been a great experience. The reprinted version has m...ore than 20 more pages of text, not in the original book. I got a chance to revise the story too. Lots of new scenes and a whole new chapter too.

Can't wait for you to read it.

The second book in the Amulet Series, Magic By Moonlight is doing well! Thank you for all of your support. Sales are climbing every day, and you are making that happen! I am working on getting it made into an e-book for Kindle and Nook. The sky's the limit!

E-Books for children?

As a former teacher, I truly believe there is nothing like having that paperback in your hands, but with the technology of e-books and Kindles, often families will get an e-reader for the whole family to share and will download books for their children. Why not take advantage of a good situation to get your kids reading!! Currently I am working with Amazon to also offer my books in Kindle Format. You can check out my books at:

Converting a PDF File to HTML

Posted by D. L. Cocchio on March 4, 2011 at 11:17 PM Comments comments (0)

For about a week now, I have been trying to figure out how to change a PDF file to HTML since you need to have an HTML file to make an E-book or Kindle. I've tried by searching the Internet for tips or programs and ended up downloading free programs that wouldn't work. After uninstalling those programs, I stumbled across the answer on a Technical Blogger's site: His blog post basically said to use your Gmail account to send your file to yourself at Gmail. When you open it up, click "view as HTML" link next to your attachment. Then save it to your harddrive. But you have to edit that file in the end because the conversion takes out all of your indents and photos. It was so easy. Hope this helps some of you out there!

Things I've Learned

Posted by D. L. Cocchio on February 23, 2011 at 10:09 AM Comments comments (0)

The book publishing industry is a tough one, but I've learned a lot along the way. It's important to always get a second set of eyes to proofread your work, because when it is your own, your eyes and brain know what it is supposed to say and they sometimes take up the slack and you miss little things. So, I've learned to take up the offers when friends offer to read it for you. It is so worth the extra time and much appreciated!

Minor setbacks - no problem!

Just experiencing a minor setback. That's what happens when you're on a deadline. Note to self- next time remember to line up a proofreader instead of hoping your family pitches in! When proofreading, you really need a second set of eyes! When I got the physical book proof I found 8 more errors. Just minor things, but never-the-less errors. It has to be perfect. Anyway, just approved the digital copy once again and we'll take it from here. Should only be about 10 more days now. I'm hoping other writer's learn from my mistakes.
